I wanted to keep my blog for life. It’s a little bit costly because of the plans and domain, but then again, I wanted to invest in something I am passionate about and still enjoying. Also, blogging helps me a lot on self-development because here, I can share anything, and at the same time, I am learning.
So before I started my new hosting blog to Dreamhost, I was once a Hostinger baby. I chose Hostinger before because it is cheaper than its competitors. However, due to some problems and pandemic cases increases, I wasn’t able to save my blog. (cries)
I became busy and wasn’t able to update and check my blog responsibilities, so after few months, my blog doesn’t exist anymore. I tried contacting them if there are backups of my blog or anything I can do about it, but I haven’t received a response until now.
So here I am, starting from scratch. The deals in Hostinger are pretty cheap and competitive, but again, maybe it’s not for me. So since blogging is part of my life, even though I lost my previous blog, it won’t stop me from continuing my passion.
I started blogging again and now with my new family, which is Dreamhost. I consider Dreamhost as my family because they are my “home” in the interwebz. They are my support, and one call away, “mommy help.” Without them, how can I host my blog alone, right?
So before I host my blog in Dreamhost, I’ve watched many YouTube reviews about different hosting sites and platforms.
At first, I wanted to go on Squarespace because I tried their 14-day trial, and I had a good time using it. Plus, I adore their minimalist interface. Still, since I tried blogging before using the WordPress.Org platform, my mind only tells me “go with WordPress” since I am more used to it, and I know how to use it.
So I removed Squarespace from the option and compared hosting sites/companies that host the WordPress.org platform.
My choices are:
So here are some of the hosting sites/companies that I’ve been eyeing, and DREAMHOST wins! As you can see, Hostinger is not part of my options anymore. But I had a great experience with Hostinger, no hard feelings.
I avail Dreamhost’s Shared Unlimited Plan, and I like the 1-click install WordPress, hassle-free and easy to use. Perfect for beginners!
I’m giving 9/10 to Dreamhost’s chat support.
On the first day of hosting my blog, I contacted their chat support because I wanted to change my domain name. I know some hosting sites won’t allow me to do that, and I am so thankful to Dreamhost for helping me right away, especially Juan S., the one who attended to all my concerns.
I didn’t give them a perfect score because their support response is a little bit slower than I thought but maybe because my concern wasn’t that easy to process, but then, they still manage to solve my problems, and now I am delighted.
Dream host doesn’t use the famous Cpanel because they have their style (I call it the D panel tho), and it is a user-friendly panel. Since I came from Hostinger who also has its hpanel, I am more used to predesigned user-friendly panels over the famous Cpanel. 10/10 for the user-friendly Dpanel.
With just a few clicks away, I manage to update PHP to its latest version without the need for assistance, and it’s a plus for me because of how user-friendly their panel is.
I love their version of webmail. I created [email protected] for my blog’s concerns and more. I’m just happy and contented with it.
I am still in the process of getting to know my chosen hosting site, and all I can say is that it was a good start.
